Congratulations on your new kitten!

It’s important to bring your kitten in for their first wellness exam as soon as possible to establish a clean bill of health. The first wellness exam for your kitten will ensure that your feline companion will be on the way to growing up healthy and happy. At your kitten’s first wellness visit, we will perform a complete and thorough examination. Young cats require a particular series of vaccinations during the first year of life to protect them from harmful, but preventable diseases. We will develop a vaccination schedule specifically for your kitten. Our veterinarians will go over your concerns and answer your questions on how to care for your new pet. We can review topics such as diet and nutrition, behavioral issues, house training, and tips on how to integrate your new kitten into your home.

Your kitten’s first exam will include:

• A comprehensive physical exam
• Development of a vaccination program based on your kitten’s lifestyle
• Screening for viruses specific to felines, such as Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus
• Intestinal parasite (worms) screening
• Intestinal parasite (worms) deworming (if necessary)
• External parasite (fleas) screening and parasite protection
• Heartworm prevention
• Recommendations for controlling and preventing external parasite such as flea and ticks
• Microchipping recommendation
• Nutritional counseling

Please bring the following with you on the day of exam:

• All breeder or veterinary records
• A fresh stool sample
• A list of questions
