Congratulations on your new puppy!

It’s important to bring your puppy in for their first wellness exam as soon as possible to establish a clean bill of health. The first wellness exam for your puppy will ensure that your canine companion will be on the way to growing up healthy and happy. At your puppy’s first wellness visit, we will perform a complete and thorough examination. Young dogs require a particular series of vaccinations during the first year of life to protect them from harmful, but preventable diseases. We will develop a vaccination schedule specifically for your puppy. Our veterinarians will go over your concerns and answer your questions on how to care for your new pet. We can review topics such as diet and nutrition, behavioral issues, house training, and tips on how to integrate your new puppy into your home.

Your puppy’s first exam will include:

• A comprehensive physical exam
• Development of a vaccination program based on your puppy’s lifestyle
• Intestinal parasite (worms) screening
• Intestinal parasite (worms) deworming (if necessary)
• External parasite (fleas) screening and parasite protection
• Heartworm prevention
• Recommendations for controlling and preventing external parasite such as flea and ticks
• Microchipping recommendation
• Behavior and housetraining recommendations
• Nutritional counseling

Please bring the following with you on the day of exam:

• All breeder or veterinary records
• A fresh stool sample
• A list of questions
